1.5mg is the opening strength in the UK Wegovy pill dose ladder. The public product information lists it as the first monthly stage before 4mg, 9mg and 25mg. It is available on private prescription, following a clinician’s assessment.
Where 1.5mg fits in the Wegovy pill route
Wegovy tablets contain semaglutide. The UK patient leaflet sets out a stepped treatment schedule, beginning with one 1.5mg tablet daily for the first month. The later strengths are part of the product schedule, not interchangeable products to choose between on price alone.
The lowest strength is therefore useful to compare as a starting-month cost. It does not indicate what a prescriber will recommend after assessment, how long treatment will continue, or whether Wegovy is suitable for an individual.
Availability and price checks
1.5mg and 4mg Wegovy tablets have been available privately in the UK since 6 July 2026. Taking the tablet
The patient leaflet gives the administration instructions for every Wegovy tablet strength: it is taken after a fasting period, swallowed whole with a small amount of water, then followed by a wait before food, other drinks or oral medicines. The exact instructions matter for absorption, so use the leaflet supplied with the medicine and the prescriber’s advice rather than changing the routine yourself.

Side effects and follow-up
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation and stomach pain are listed among the very common side effects in the patient leaflet. A medicine page cannot judge whether a symptom is expected in an individual case. Speak to the prescribing service, pharmacist or GP if symptoms are troublesome, persistent, or make it difficult to keep fluids down.
Urgent medical advice is needed for severe or persistent abdominal pain, signs of a serious allergic reaction, or sudden or worsening eyesight. The official leaflet also explains how suspected side effects can be reported through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
